Cooper Troxell (aka COTROX) is a New York-based filmmaker.

He specializes in imaginative high-concept short films. Telegraph is an exploration of the first job of the Information Age — semaphore tower operator circa 1830. Heptapus is the surrealist retelling of a rare-as-lightning incident at the beach.

Heptapus is the recipient of an Indian Paintbrush Production Grant, as well as generous donations from Kodak, Warner Brothers Sound, and Nice Shoes. It played at a dozen film festivals including the Oscar-qualifying RiverRun in juried competition.

He is the editor of the feature film Queen of Glory, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. Another feature, Stress Positions, was financed by NEON and premiered at Sundance.

His animation work has been commissioned by A24 and Showtime.

Commercial clients include Bergdorf Goodman, House of Waris, Tidal, Coca-Cola, McCann, and Christie’s Auction House.

He has an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University.

Shot on 16mm, the film has a grainy look and an unsettling atmosphere from the opening shot, instantly drawing you in…. The visual flair immerses the audience in the world Troxell created, and the wild ride of its narrative.
